Let’s take a look at who to target on your Week 5 Waiver Wire. In general, these players will be injury replacements or those who I think have a chance to break out.  Remember, it’s unlikely that someone here will be the next fantasy great, but you should find some low-end RB2s, WR3s, and bye week starters with upside potential. Most players listed will be less than 50% owned according to FantasyPros consensus roster percentage.

Week 5 Waiver Wire- Quarterbacks Targets

Matthew Stafford, Rams (40.9% Rostered) | 3%-5% FAAB

With Puka Nacua and Davante Adams catching passes, Matthew Stafford has quietly become the QB12.  He will be useful in 1QB leagues with bye weeks starting this week, and he should already be rostered in 2QB and superflex leagues.

Sam Darnold, Seahawks (18.0% Rostered) | 2%-4% FAAB

Except for a poor Week 1 showing, Sam Darnold has been a top 12 quarterback every week.  He has scored over 18.5 points per game the last three weeks, and it should continue as he gets more and more comfortable in a new offense, especially since he was the QB7 in 2024.

Woody Marks, Texans (31.7% Rostered) | 3%-5% FAAB

It looks like Woody Marks is taking over the Texans’ backfield.  Marks have increased in snap percentage every week, finally out-snapping Nick Chubb 56 percent to 42 percent in Week 4.  Chubb has not topped 60 yards in a game, whereas Marks had 69 yards in his first game with double-digit carries.  Woody Marks should be considered an RB3 with upside going forward and will be startable during bye weeks.

Isaiah Davis, Jets (0.80% Rostered) | 1%-2% FAAB

Isaiah Davis is now mostly a handcuff to Breece Hall, following the injury to Braelon Allen.  However, in 2024, Davis averaged 5.8 yards per carry over 30 attempts, so he is no slouch should he be called upon to do more.

Romeo Doubs, Packers (31.3% rostered) | 4%-6% FAAB

Romeo Doubs has apparently become one of Jordan Love’s favorite targets. Despite the down week in Cleveland Week 3, Doubs is still the WR12, and with Jayden Reed out for the foreseeable future, Doubs should continue to get plenty of opportunity after their Week 5 bye.

Isaiah Bond, Browns (1.3% Rostered) | 1%-2% FAAB

Isaiah Bond was an undrafted free agent this year; however, before his legal issues (which appear to be resolved), he was a potential second-round pick in the NFL Draft.  Every week, his target volume has increased, and now Cedric Tillman is out for a while.  Grab him while you can and see if he emerges as a consistent WR3 in Cleveland.

Week 5 Waiver Wire- Tight Ends

Darren Waller, Dolphins (7.8% rostered) | 3%-5% FAAB

Before Monday, Darrin Waller had not played football since January of 2024.  With three catches for 27 yards and two touchdowns, you could not tell.  He has always been a good tight end, but injuries have held him back.  Tyreek Hill left Monday’s game with a huge injury, so taking a chance that Waller has another good season left in him is a no-brainer.

Theo Johnson, Giants (3.8% rostered) | 2%-4% FAAB

Russell Wilson has never been known for a tendency to target tight ends, but rookie Jaxson Dart may be different.  Theo Johnson had five targets on Sunday and ended up with three catches and a touchdown.  Going forward, Malik Nabers is out for the season, so expect some of this volume to go to Johnson with a rookie quarterback at the helm.
