The playoff push is here, and who’s hot on the waiver wire will decide whether your team makes a deep run. The dog days of the fantasy baseball season are upon us. Your team is playing in the first or second rounds.  The decision on who to keep, who to drop, and who to grab off the waiver wire will make or break your fantasy season.

Who’s Hot On the Playoff Waiver Wire

Daulton Varsho, Toronto Blue Jays (OF)

The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho batted  .295/.367/.731 with 17 runs and 26 RBI over his last 25 games. Varsho has homered in three straight games to begin September. He is finally healthy and has now hit 18 homers on the year in only 51 games played. If still available, he should be plucked off the waiver wire immediately for your playoff push.

Daylen Lile, Washington Nationals (OF) – Sizzling Hot!

Daylen Lile, OF for the Washington Nationals, is batting .314/.356/.504 in 150 plate appearances since the All-Star break. Over his last 32 games, the speedy outfielder has 13 extra-base hits (seven doubles, five triples, and a homer), five steals, 16 RBI, and 19 runs. Despite these statistics, the rookie outfielder remains rostered in only one to three percent in ESPN and Yahoo fantasy leagues. Therefore, Lile remains a hot waiver wire pickup for your playoff push.

Drew Gilbert, San Francisco Giants (OF)

The rookie outfielder, Drew Gilbert of the San Francisco Giants, has caught fire. Since August 29th, he has gone 12-for-26 with 10 RBI after batting .097 through his first 14 contests. He joined the Giants organization as part of the trade that sent reliever Tyler Rogers to the New York Mets. Gilbert hit a cool 7-for-14 with two RBI, three runs scored, and two steals over five games at Triple-A Sacramento. He’s another rookie who’s hot on the waiver wire for your fantasy playoff push.

Harrison Bader, Philadelphia Phillies (OF) Playoff Vet

The Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader earned a near-everyday spot in the lineup. Bader had a productive stretch in early September, batting .471/.514/.765. This also makes him a hot waiver wire candidate for your playoff push. For the 2025 season, he’s up to a .270/.348/.455 slash line with 15 home runs, 49 RBI, 47 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases through 125 games between Philadelphia and the Minnesota Twins. As long as he’s hitting well, he should continue to see a majority of the playing time in center field.

Jeremiah Jackson, Baltimore Orioles (IF/OF)

Jeremiah Jackson, Baltimore Orioles infielder/outfielder, has been on a tear since his debut on August 1. The 25-year-old outfielder is now slashing .315/.348/.509 with four homers and 17 RBI across 110 plate appearances.  Jackson’s bat has earned him a near-everyday role in the Orioles’ lineup. And he brings fantasy position flexibility to the plate as well. The versatile rookie’s been splitting his time between third base and right field. Hot-hitting players like Jackson are a good addition to your playoff rosters.

Chase Meidroth, Chicago White Sox, (SS,2B,3B)

The Chicago White Sox infielder, Chase Meidroth, is a hot waiver wire pickup. The infielder has gone 23-for-71(.323) over 20 games since returning from a thumb injury in mid-August. He is rostered in 2.4 percent in ESPN and 4 percent in Yahoo fantasy leagues. Meidroth brings multi-positional flexibility to your fantasy team during the playoff push to the finals. His big weekend performance against the Detroit Tigers has him up to a .265/.333/.336 slash line with four home runs, 13 stolen bases, 21 RBI, and 44 runs scored over 104 games this season.

Brandon Marsh, Philadelphia Phillies, (OF)

Brandon Marsh, an outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, remained hot in September with a three-hit game on Sunday, September 7th, against the Miami Marlins.  He is an excellent fantasy waiver wire pickup. The 27-year-old outfielder has a hit in seven of his last eight games. Marsh is hitting .282 with a .778 OPS and 34 RBI this year with five stolen bases. Marsh shares center field with Harrison Bader and keeps himself fantasy relevant with his ability to play left field as well.
