Let’s take a look at who to target on your Week 3 Waiver Wire. In general, these players will be injury replacements or those who I think have a chance to break out.  Remember, it’s unlikely that someone here will be the next fantasy great, but you should find some low-end RB2s, WR3s, and bye week starters with upside potential. Any players listed will be less than 50 percent owned according to fantasypros.com consensus roster percentage.

Also, don’t forget to check out my past waiver wire articles; I stand by them…mostly.  I would temper expectations for Dylan Sampson, considering Quinshon Judkins‘ usage on Sunday.

Week 3 Waiver Wire- Quarterbacks Targets

Mac Jones, 49ers (2.6% Rostered) | 2%-4% FAAB

Mac Jones has never been that successful as a fantasy quarterback, finishing as QB19 in his best season, but with Christian McCaffrey in the backfield and emerging receivers in Ricky Pearsall and Juwann Jennings, he is a decent QB2 in superflex leagues.

Russell Wilson, Giants (7.1% Rostered) | 5%-10% FAAB

Apparently, the Giants are “letting Russ cook.”  He is the QB9 in the first couple of weeks of the season.  While I don’t expect that to continue, he will produce.  Last season, he had 14 top 24 weeks, making him a good QB2 in superflex and a great bye week fill-in.

Jake Browning, Bengals (0.7% Rostered) | 5%-10% FAAB

Browning may be a popular pickup this week, and it’s no surprise.  With the Bengals’ offense working for him and the defense working against him, expect a lot of pass attempts.  To top it off, he had eight top 24 weeks in nine starts in 2023.  The Bengals’ supporting cast will put points on the board, and he’ll be an integral part of that.

Week 3 Waiver Wire- Running Backs

Bhayshul Tuten (47.7% Rostered) | 2%-3% FAAB

Bhaysuhl Tuten is very popular on the waiver wire this week, but only because people are unreasonably high on the rookie, especially considering his competition for touches.  Yes, Tuten scored a touchdown this week, but he only had 10 touches compared to Travis Etienne’s 16. It’s Etienne’s backfield, but should you have roster space, he is a great stash/bye week fill-in.

Most of the other rosterable RBs are taken right now, but watch out for their backups: Tyler Allgeier and Rachaad White come to mind. If you have roster space, consider taking a flier on one of these guys.

Week 3 Waiver Wire- Wide Receivers

Wan’Dale Robinson, Giants (26.4% rostered) | 4%-7% FAAB

Wan’Dale Robinson has shown he can be a good WR3.  He has gotten at least eight targets per game this year, showing that Russell Wilson will throw to him.  Considering he has nine top 24 weeks over the last three seasons, getting more targets will only help him fill your WR3 or flex roles.

Quentin Johnston (25.4% Rostered) | 5%-9% FAAB

Quentin Johnston is currently the WR4 this year.  What encourages me more is that Justin Herbert has targeted him seven times in each of their two games.  That shows me that he has not lost confidence in the former first-round pick and, despite the other great receivers on the team, he will still get an opportunity.  Consider him a flex option for now, but keep an eye out, he could be more.

Week 3 Waiver Wire- Tight Ends

Last week, I recommended two tight ends, Zach Ertz and Juwan Johnson, both had good weeks, and both are currently top-three tight ends. Yet they are only rostered 50.1% and 17.7%, respectively.  Jayden Daniels has shown that Ertz will continue to get opportunities, and Ertz has made the most of that, scoring a touchdown per game. With Spencer Rattler still learning how to be an NFL quarterback and no other tight end competition, Juwan Johnson will continue to get plenty of targets.
